Portuguese / Afro / Brazilian act Buraka Som Sistema are one of those groups you want to see live. When you listen to them at home with their kuduro sound belts out at you, you just know they’ll be amazing in person.
On May 3rd, after missing them in New York during a previous trip, it was certainly almost everything I’d hoped the show to be. The whole group consisting of DJ Riot, Lil’ John and Conductor plus that fabulous dancing girl who’s name I don’t know were all there to get the crowd going crazy. It was loud, bumping, grinding and o so much fun.
When they started the night with what is my least favorite track of theirs I thought, well at least they’re getting that out of the way early. And rightly so because the rest of the night escalated to a big party.
