Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings Keep Funk Alive

sharonjonesEveryone’s favorite funk/soul band Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings are ready to unveil their new album I Learned The Hard Way.

Debuting April 6th, the fourth album from the group promises to continue in the revival of 70s funk. The Brooklyn-based big band has been making waves since they came up on the scene in 1996.

To get their fans excited on their newest release, Daptone Records is giving away the track “I’ve Learned The Hard Way” for free. Just sign up on the mailing list to get the mp3.

Also, to make sure that they have the best possible reception, Sharon and Co. are keeping their festivities in their pseudo-hometown of New York, taking over The Apollo Theater April 30th. Check for tickets here.

To be sure to land tickets for this high anticipated album’s release party (their last effort 100 Days, 100 Nights came out 2007), head on over to Ticketmaster and get those suckers now.

Can’t wait til April to get your Sharon Jones funk fix? Check out her guest spot with Michael Buble on Saturday Night Live here.
