Black-Joe-LewisSan Jose plays host to some great jazz and funk this coming weekend. Named the “Best Festival of Silicon Valley” for 3 consecutive years, the San Jose Jazz Festival will feature over 100 concerts spanning 9 stages over 3 days.

This summer, the festival celebrates its 20th anniversary. The lineup includes a diverse mix of local and youth acts, as well as regional, national and international artists including a few legendary performers. While the lineup isn’t stacked, there are definitely some great sets to catch and with tickets going for $15 per day this event is pretty much recession-proof.

Here are some recommendations:

Friday

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings (8:30PM)

Panthelion (10PM)

Saturday

Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears **2 sets** (2PM and 7PM)

Bill Henderson (4PM)

Allen Toussaint (6PM)

Traffic (Midnight)

Sunday

New York Police Department Big Band (Noon)

Don Byron plays Junior Walker (2PM)

San Jose Jazz Orchestra with Don Menza (4PM)

Bettye Lavette (7PM)

Here’s the complete schedule.
