Um, Yes! Debut Album From Inlets Due April 20
Brooklyn by way of Wisconsin has been harboring a secret: Inlets. Hardly, hidden to some, the one man band consisting of multi-instrumentalist Sebastian Krueger, has been making noise since his wildly popular 2006 release, The Vestibule EP. With a sound ordained with ornate touches of various strings, well-timed drum splashes, and gourmet pinches of horns, Kruegers’ often-times ethereal mixed down songs are mines of diamonds hidden in the rough—diamonds available in the form of Inlets first full-length album Inter Arbiter, due April 20th on twosyllable records.
Between working a full-time job, collaborating with cohorts DM Stith, Grizzly Bear, and Feist, to name a few, Krueger has managed to give a high-five to lo-fi, recording and mixing Inlets’ ambitious Inter Arbiter all by his lonesome in his apartment, right before quiet hours—the end result? A cogent and focused project with infite-complexity and beautiful structure.
The nocturnal spirit in the layering of Krueger’s vocals on “Bright Orange Air,” is evenly paired with the poetry in his words. If that’s not doing it for one’s ears, “Your Good Arm,” harmonizes subtle textures of guitars and piano, rounding out with a brass section that creates and audio hug for the soul. Krueger’s talent is undeniable and the hard work that went into the creation of Inlets’ Inter Arbiter is completely worth that wait until 4/20.
